A big part of university life is societies, which are clubs that students can join based on hobbies, interests, sports, or academic subjects. Societies host a variety of social events throughout the year, including parties, competitions, nights out, balls, and more! At Hog Roast Kington, we have a menu that is ideal for any kind of social event, including this delicious choice.
Earlier this year, Hog Roast Kington was contacted by the medics society at a local university. The society was planning on hosting its first formal event of the year and wanted to hire a caterer to elevate the event and attract more potential members. The event is set to be similar to a networking event, as a way for new students to make friends and connections with others on their course. Our catering manager discussed several catering options with the society president before it was decided that a classic hog roast would be ideal for the occasion, along with a few additional dishes to ensure that there is something for everyone to enjoy.
When the day of the event arrived, the Hog Roast Kington team arrived at the venue in the afternoon to prepare for the 6:00pm serving time. We began by roasting the main dishes, which included a delicious slow-roasted hog, cajun spiced chicken, and BBQ-pulled jackfruit. These dishes were served in fresh bread rolls, alongside sage and onion stuffing, homemade applesauce, and crispy crackling. Additionally, we provided homemade chips, sweet potato fries, gourmet coleslaw, corn cobettes, and a selection of seasonal salad dishes. Overall, this menu was a great addition to the event and was perfect for breaking the ice between the students and giving them a talking point for the evening. The event was a lot of fun and it was great to see so many students enjoying themselves and getting to enjoy a hearty and filling evening meal.
